Leader of the BC Liberal Party, Premier Christy Clark

When the election writ was dropped on April 16, the governing BC Liberal party was dragging behind the NDP by 22 points in most polls.  All the political pundits proclaimed a landslide victory for the NDP was on the horizon, and the only issue left to be determined would be the size of their majority.

But the Church, seasoned in election prayer from federal battles, chose to get involved.  Numerous congregations, ministerial groups, houses of prayer began to cry out for righteousness and God’s choice of government. This was supplemented by a corporate strategy of Pray BC’s daily reminder to pray, the BC Prayer Wall mobilizing province-wide prayer 24/7 for the last two weeks leading up to the election, and Red Leaf House of Prayer hosting multiple national conference calls weekly to pray strategically for the election.

We delight in the unity and honour displayed as ministries and churches each did their part and we give all glory to God for the astounding result. The Liberal party, the banner under which which the vast majority of socially conservative candidates ran, came from behind- far behind- and in less than a month, won an even greater majority than the previous mandate. The last polls right before the election had the NDP ahead by 7-9 points, and there was no one who even considered that the Liberals could hold on to power. Yet the Church continued to pray, not primarily for the Liberals, but for righteousness in government.

Not only were the Liberals victorious, but Christians were victorious

Today we see the results of an undeniable supernatural intervention. Not only were the Liberals victorious, but Christians were victorious and a historic 24% of the governing party (at least) are now evangelical Christians.

The media is questioning the accuracy of polling, but this is like a doctor, stumped by the sudden disappearance of a tumor questioning the accuracy of the x-ray that revealed it. A secular mind has no grid for what just happened.

So we share this testimony to give God glory, and also to inspire other provinces who are battling unrighteousness in their provincial government. United, faith-filled, persistent prayer changes nations, provinces, hearts and lives. Let’s stand together nationally and pray for those provinces that are under acute pressure, let’s also keep supporting all the provincial legislatures with prayer so that decisions about education, social services, resource development  and many other areas will be influenced by heaven. For all levels of government let’s pray for God’s kingdom to come and His will to be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
